Project Profile
Hunter Valley Golf Resort Competition
Our proposal for the Hunter Valley Resort centres on a singular architectural gesture: a large circular hotel and golf resort, positioned as a calm and continuous ring within the landscape. Every room benefits from a dual-aspect experience — inward to a quiet, planted courtyard, and outward to sweeping views across the Hunter Valley and the golf course. This pure form creates clarity, identity and a strong sense of arrival.
Away from the main building, a sculptural silo-inspired restaurant sits along a winding path that moves out through the landscape. Its cylindrical form references the rural agricultural structures of the region, offering a destination dining experience that feels independent yet intrinsically tied to the site. As guests move between the hotel and restaurant, the journey becomes part of the experience — shifting through open grasslands, framed views and soft topography.
Inside the circular hotel, warm materials, calm tones and generous terraces shape a refined retreat. An infinity-edge pool extends toward the valley, dissolving the boundary between water, land and sky. The design balances simplicity and monumentality, creating a resort that feels grounded, enduring and distinctly connected to the Hunter Valley.
